In Co. Down, we have many beautiful sights including the mountains of Mourne. Slieve Donard is the highest of the range at 850 metres (2,790 ft). It is also the highest mountain in Northern Ireland and the province of Ulster. The Mournes are very popular as a destination for many Duke of Edinburgh's Award expeditions. It’s a great place to go as a family or with friends. Why not make a date with the Mournes this summer, book a local B&B or cottage, go camping and take advantage of the views and other local places of interest including Newcastle, Castlewellan, Spelga Dam, etc.
How many of the mountains can you name? How many have you climbed?
