It’s been two years since we started IPA Group, and in those two years we have been blogging (writing articles) about the industry we are in. Why should you blog? It’s simple:
1. Blogging regularly updates your website regularly.
It may seem obvious, but when you blog, where do you show them off? On your website of course, and when you add your new blogs to your website, it gets updated, and every time it’s updated, Google realises you’re still around and relevant, therefore helping your rankings in the search engine.
2. Blogging about your industry shows you are someone with knowledge.
When you want to know about something, you ask someone who knows about it, right? So, when you ask Google about something, it finds the blogs that talk about it, and in turn, you find the people that know about it! So when you share your knowledge, you are proving your worth inside your industry and showing that you are someone to be trusted. Just make sure the information you share is correct.
3. Blogging helps keep you focused.
It may not seem like it at the start, but if you set aside time each week to blog, you will become more organised with the use of your time. You’ll know that each week (or twice a week, or every day, depending on how often you wish to blog) you need to sit down and write (or make a video – we’ll get to that in a minute).
4. Blogging drives traffic to your website.
As mentioned in point 1, you add your blog to your website, but you also share it out on social media. When people click on the link to read your blog, they end up on your website, and while there, they may also click to read more about you, etc.
5. Blogging helps you reach and retain your ideal customer.
When people search on Google, they are generally looking for specific topics. Once they come across your blog and they get the answer they need, they are more likely to return. If you also have a comments section, they can ask you questions there and then without having to go to your social media sites, therefore cutting out more steps in the process. Plus, 60% of businesses who blog acquire more customers, according to a HubSpot survey, and who doesn’t want more customers?
So, these are only 5 reasons how blogging can help your business, believe me there are more, but in my opinion, these are the most important. If you feel more comfortable vlogging (video blogging), the same points apply; you’ll just be speaking instead of writing.
